Cofnod Safle

Situated on a narrow terrace just above a marshy area about 90m NE of the Afon Goch is this probable house site with associated enclosure. The rectangular house is set end on into the slope. It almost certainly had an artifically levelled interior though collapse has blurred this detail. The walls consist merely of footings little more than 0.3m high at the W but are better preserved at the E side. Collapse of the walls has taken place at the inner SE end where the structure is built into the slope. A gap at the NW end probably indicated the site of a doorway. The walls are about 0.7m thick and the whole structure is 8.5m x 4.5m. just to its SW and possibly linked by a wall (line of this barely visible) about 4.5m long is a roughly circular enclosure, 8m in diameter crudely built of piled stones with no obvious entrance.
