Current terminal station for the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway (nprn 43037), opened in 1903 to link the market town of Welshpool to the rural community of Llanfair Caereinion. Restoration of the line as a tourist steam railway, following closure as a 'working' line in 1956, started at Llanfair (nprn 404331) until Raven Square in Welshpool was reached in 1981. The present station building at Raven Square was originally at Eardisley in Herefordshire, and a new signal box (nprn 415840) was built.
