The development of Mountain Ash was linked to the industrial development of the South Wales Valleys, but did not develop until after 1850 until the opening of local collieries such as the Deep Dyffryn Colliery (Nprn: 80481) and the Miskin Colliery (Nprn: 8048. The Public Hall, Mountain Ash (Nprn: 310071) was built in 1904 in and Arts & Craftt baroque style, designed by J.H. Phillips.
