1. By 1918 a Picture Theatre is located and named on the third edition 25-inch Ordanance Survey Map (Glamorgan XXXII).

2. Tivoli Cinema was built in the mid-1930s in Art Deco style, replacing the earlier Kursaal which had opened in 1911. The new Tivoli Cinema consisted of 'a small but elegant two-storey venue with a handsome entrance foyer and sweeping staircases each side to the upstairs circle.' Tivoli operated as a cinema until the 1960s, later being converted into an amusement arcade before its current status as a Co-op supermarket. The facade is all that remains of the original cinema.
