The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is one of the great walks of Wales, but, although it was first proposed in 1953, it was not opened until 1970 following years of planning, construction and agreement on its final course. Today the path runs 186 miles (299 km) from Poppit Sands on the Teifi estuary in the north to Amroth at the southern border with Carmarthenshire. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is part of the Wales Coast Path, which officially opened in May 2012, and provides a 870 mile route which links with Offa's Dyke path to create a continuous 1030 mile walk around Wales.

Photographed during aerial reconnaissance by RCAHMW on 13th June 2008.
