DisgrifiadThe Dyfi Railway Viaduct (nprn 96104), carrying the Cambrian Coast Line (nprn 418018) over the River Dovey or Afon Dyfi, was originally built as a lifting bridge in response to local pressure to allow shipping access further upriver towards Machynlleth. This house was built as the lifting bridge keeper's residence. Use of the lifting bridge proved infrequent and costly to maintain and the lifting span was replaced to form a solid viaduct.
