A limekiln is marked by Toft (1988) in this area, shown as operational on the 1879 OS 25 inch map. A sketch map of the adjacent promontory fort drawn in 1899 by Morgan also shows a limekiln in this area. No evidence of this structure now survives although there are piles of broken limestone in the area.
