Felin-fran is named on all four editions of the historic 25-inch O. S. maps, but its purpose is not shown although it was probably a corn mill. Parts of what may have been a water leat are depicted on the 1st and 2nd editions, dating from 1879 and 1899. The Great Western Railway's Swansea District Lines were built through the area in 1912 and a nearby station halt was named Felin Fran.
