Linear earthworks of historic surface coal mining and pitting, recorded during RCAHMW aerial reconnaissance on 28th November 2012. The workings appear to pre-date the enclosure of the upland fringe here, as the field boundaries cut across the earlier workings and steam-plough cultivation ridges have eroded the workings in the enclosed land. The workings are not depicted on the OS County Series mapping, suggesting they have some antiquity.
