A large (42m x 25m approx) quarry excavation which appears on the OS 2nd edition map as 'Old Quarry'. A rectangular depression 6m x 8m, at the southern end may represent a later feature, possibly associated with the WWII observation hut immediately above the quarry to the south (48233). A small (3 x 2m) wooden hut occupies the centre of the quarry floor and this too may be of WWII origin.
