Abermagwr is a small settlement developed along the B4340 which runs north west from Pontrhydfendigaid to Aberystwyth. The hamlet is situated on the north eastern banks of the river Ystwyth, approximately seven miles from Aberystwyth. The main features of Abermagwr are its bridge (NPRN 23844); the former sawmill (NPRN 41113) and the former smithy (NPRN 41157). About a third of a mile north east of Abermagwr is the remains of a Roman villa (NPRN 405315). The large Trawsgoed estate (includes NPRN 35307 and NPRN 265332) is about half a mile south of Abermagwr.
