Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance on 4th July 2018 recorded extensive cropmarks and parchmarks of an early field system running for 600m east of Glanllynnau farm incorporating trackways and at least one rectangular settlemnent enclosure. Immediately to the south-east of Glanllynnau is a group of rectangular fields at SH 458 375 running south the edge of Tremadog Bay. Part of an oval enclosure can be seen at SH 457 376 some 40m east of the farm buildings. The boundaries swing east and north-east meeting the line of the modern A497 coast road near Bontfechan. A rectangular enclosure measuring approx. 40m x 35m can be seen at SH 461 377 which has internal subdivisions and is surrounded by pitting. It appears to be an enclosed settlement enclosure but has very narrow ditches. The field system lies to the east of a further set of fields seen at Afonwen Farm (NPRN 423652).

Discovered during the 2018 drought.

Recorded during baseline aerial reconnaissance survey for the CHERISH Project. ? Crown: CHERISH PROJECT 2018. Produced with EU funds through the Ireland Wales Co-operation Programme 2014-2020. All material made freely available through the Open Government Licence.
