The village of Llandyfaelog is situated just off the A484, approximately five miles south of Carmarthen. When the first edition of the 25inch OS map was published in 1890, the village had a school, a smithy, a public house called the Rose and Crown, a church dedicated to St. Maelog (NPRN 309822) and a Calvinistic Methodist chapel (NPRN 6391). In the twenty-first century there are more houses and a community hall in Llandyfaelog. The church and the public house are still open, although the public house has changed its name to The Red Lion. The school has closed and the chapel had fallen into disuse by 2002.
