Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance on 10 July 2018 discovered cropmarks of an Iron Age defended enclosure on a north-facing slope above Gellifadog. The enclosure is of 'concentric-antenna' type with a polygonal central univallate enclosure, linked to an outer concentric enclosure by an 'antenna' or linked ditches on the east-facing entrance. No entrance gap is visible on the inner enclosure to meet the inturned antenna. Despite the severity of the 2018 drought only parts of the defended enclosure are visible and almost nothing of the northern antenna survives, presumably due to intensive cultivation over the centuries on a rocky hillslope with very thin soils.
