Ysgol Morgan Llwyd was founded in 1963 and is a Welsh-medium comprehensive school situated on the eastern edge of Wrexham. In the 1990s the school moved into the premises of former Cartrefle Teacher Training College on Cefn Road. The school educates approximately 760 pupils aged eleven to eighteen, including 140 students in the sixth form. In July 2018, work began on a £1.5 million extension of the sixth form, and completed in 2019. The building work was carried out by Read Construction, funded by the Welsh Government's Band A 21st Century Schools Programme and Wrexham Council. 'The new build aims to increase school capacity at secondary level and secure the future of Welsh medium secondary education in Wrexham.'
