According to the Cadw listed building database, Penrhos cottage was built in the early 19th century, and its interior and exterior are both whitewashed. It is a 'single-storey, double-fronted cottage, much offset to the left with long narrow 8-pane horned sash each side of door.' The windowsills are made of slate and the right end of the cottage is windowless. Attached to the left side of Penrhos cottage is a 'low single-storey outbuilding with whitewashed rendered left end stack, cemented slates to roof and small 4-pane sash.' Inside Penrhos cottage are two rooms, both with ceilings. The right hand room has a fireplace, whilst the left hand room is unheated, with a door to the outbuilding.'
Penrhos cottage has been restored and is used 'as an exhibit of rural life by Pembrokeshire Museums Service.' It is Grade II listed 'for its special historic interest as a well-restored small traditional cottage.'
