'A complex site on broken ground at the foot of a steep escarpment. It consists of two buildings with adjoining enclosures, all roughly built from drystone and extending across the slope in an east to west line. It measures overall 36m by 10m. The enclosure wall incorporates many natural boulders and orthostats, and in places acts as a revetment to the natural slope. The central building is a rectangular pen (or perhaps a shepherd's hut) aligned downslope and measuring 3.6m by 1.6m with walls about 0.7m thick. The east building is more irregularly shaped, measuring 2-3m wide and 5.1m long.
Just north of the latter are two roughly circular areas defined by earthfast boulders. They have the appearance of being man-made structures, perhaps even robbed-out hut circles, but it is not impossible that they are merely a fortuitous arrangement of natural slabs.'
This site is one of 'a number of drystone ruins, most of which are shown on large-scale OS maps' at Cwm Nantyfedw, east of the former mining village Croserw.
