Thought to be a medieval parish church, mentioned in 1254, although the earliest in situ detail is late sixteenth century.
The church has a continuous nave and chancel. The walls, thought to be medieval, are of stone rubble on a boulder foundation. There is a modern slate gabled roof with a simple bellcote at the west end and a cross at the east. It has simple round-headed openings except for the square framed late sixteenth century three light window.
The north porch is modern, but has a reset fifteenth century style round headed doorway.
The church retains a number of interesting seventeenth and eighteenth century monuments.
The lychgate is nineteenth century.
