This rectilinear fish trap consists of three arms, together with a linear feature, all comprising the remains of dry stone walling, a single boulder high. It belongs to the Aberarth Fish Trap Complex(NPRN 129859), and together with NPRN 518841 and the eastern half of NPRN 518840, is designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument. The fish trap is clearly visible on modern aerial photographic coverage. Its west arm points south-south-east and measures approximately 75m, terminating some 30m from the low water mark. The linear feature begins a few meters further towards the low water mark, and extends for some 25m on almost the same alignment as the west arm. It is probable that this feature represents phasing of the same arm. The second arm begins where the west arm terminates, extending for some 110m in a north-easterly direction. It terminates where the east arm begins. The east arm also points south-south-east, extending for some90m towards the high water mark. This fish trap is located approximately 20m east of NPRN 518841 (Aberarth Fish Trap 1), which is very similar in shape and size. The two are located some 100m east of NPRN 518840, which is also similar in shape and size. A charter of 1184 records that the goredi (fish traps) of Llanddewi Aberarth were offered to the monastery of Strata Florida. They remained in use until the 1930s.
