This 'C' shaped fish trap is visible on modern aerial photographic coverage. It was identified during aerial reconnaissance in 1989, and subsequently surveyed by Gwynedd Archaeological Trust. It is thought that the fish trap dates to the early thirteenth century, at which time it would have been further inland, the cliff having receeded approximately 118m. It has been suggested that this is the 'Aber Saint' fish trap mentioned in a charter of Edward I (1272-1307), and also in the record of Caernarfon 1461-83.
