A cutting into the hillside oriented SW-NE, 16m long, 4m wide and up to 1m deep, the entrance obscured. On the downhill side is a spoil tip containing coal dust, 18m SW-NE x 12m and 1.5m high, covered in thin turf. There appears to be a small trial on the S side of the level, with upcast forming part of the larger spoil tip. A further 12m away to the NE is a subsidence pit, 6m diameter and 0.5m deep. Marked on the 1886 OS map and described on the 1901 map as 'Old coal level'.
