The footings of a circular structure on a natural terrace on the approach to Bryn y Castell hillfort, 40m to its NE, and protected by an outcrop on the W side. It is 6.3m in diameter and has rubble walls 1m wide, with kerbs visible to the NE and SE, and an entrance in the E side, 0.75m wide. Inside is a pile of slag and burnt stones. The structure was excavated during excavation of the hillfort 1979-85, and was found to have been used for iron smelting in the 2nd - 3rd centuries AD.
