Capel Mair Independent Chapel was first built in 1803, rebuilt in 1831 and rebuilt a second time in 1870, this time to the design of architect Thomas Thomas of Landore. Capel Mair was then modified with a new facade in 1876, a house and vestry added in 1885 by architect D Davies of Penrhiwllan, and a gallery added in 1905. The present chapel, dated 1870, is built in the Classical/ Italianate Renaissance style of the gable entry type and is Grade 2 listed.
