Cropmarks recorded by the Royal Commission, during drought aerial reconnaissance on 4th July 2018. The cropmarks show the western end of a narrow-ditched defended enclosure with a terminal-defined gateway centrally placed on the downslope side. The enclosure runs to the east, upslope, but here is obscured by hillside vegetation. However, LiDAR shows low, oval earthworks of the wider enclosure measuring approx. 150m east-west by 80m. It is difficult to date the enclosure, but it seems to be larger than would be required for an agricultural function and appears to be prehistoric in character, either Bronze Age or Iron Age.
