DisgrifiadThe Aberdare Canal was built between Abercynon on the Glamorganshire Canal (nprn 34425) and Aberdare. Opened in 1812, it was six and three quarter miles long and had two locks, Dyffryn Lock (nprn 91540) and Cwmbach Lock (nprn 91539). The canal fell into disuse for commercial traffic in 1900 and its course has since largely been destroyed by the construction of New Road (A4059).
