A group of irregularly-shaped cairns is located on the SE-facing slopes of Graig Fawr, close to the interface with currently enclosed land.
Artificial in appearance, their variable size and shape suggests that they result from stone clearance during early agricultural activity. This view is reinforced by the crude linearity of the piles as exemplified by examples A-D (below), a picture somewhat obscured now by the paths and sheep trails which criss-cross the area.
A short distance to the SW lies another group, this time associated with linear banks. While the two are possibly contemporary there is no clear indication of date. Bronze Age sepulchral and ritual monuments are noted nearby, as are burnt mounds and medieval house platforms.

See long text for details of individual cairns.
