DisgrifiadThe S part of Llanymynech Hill, a roughly oval area, c.1,100m NE-SW by 634m, is demarcated by multiple ramparts and ditches to the N and E, whilst elsewhere a single rampart crowns steep natural slopes and crags.
Small-scale excavations within the fort indicate occupation/activity from at least the 4th c. BC (Owen 2002).
The Ogof mine galleries (Nprn307004) have produced much RB material.
The W & SW ramparts were incorporated in the line of Offa's Dyke (Nprn306866).
The site is associated with Roman military works at Abertanat and Clawdd Coch (see Nprn306986).
