DisgrifiadIvor Congregational Chapel was first built in 1860 by architect and builder John Gabe of Merthry, rebuilt in 1873 and finally modified in 1878. The present chapel, dated 1878 is Classical in style with a gable-entry plan and a central door way. Stairs to the gallery are located to either side of the central entry. The pulpit is situated on the rear wall of the chapel, with entry to a rear room via doors oneither side. The rear room maybe a meeting hall, with a staircase to a second floor or possibly a basement. There is also an external entry to this room located on the right side of the building. Ivor is now Grade 2 Listed as an important chapel in the history of Dowlais and for features such as the classical facade, box pews and fine ceiling.
