Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance on 16th July 2013 identified cropmarks of a D-shaped defended enclosure, built against an inland promontory, with a second sub-circular or angular-oval enclosure located some 20m further west at SM 8052 0831. The promontory fort is well marked with a univallate ditch and a west-facing entrance gap,measuring some 60m across internally and enclosing 0.3 ha. The second, smaller enclosure lies 20m west of the promontory fort and measures c.30m across. A ditch springing from close to the north terminal of the promontory fort entrance runs west and bisects the outer enclosure, although the relationship of the sites within the complex is unclear.

The fort lies just over 300m west of a larger defended enclosure at Mullock Bridge (NPRN 419566).
