DisgrifiadPleasure villa erected in 1783 to the design of William Jernagen. Octagonal plan. Tall semicircular-headed recesses on alternate faces for the ground-floor windows and small windows to an upper floor. Additions were made in 1818 for the industrialist J. H. Vivian. In 1823 a new building in Gothic style was begun with P. F. Robinson as architect, incorporating the original house in its S. front and subsequently known as Singleton Abbey (NPRN 19965)
