Built c. 1800 and shown on the Tithe of 1848. It was remodelled in 1864 for use as Police Station and Lock-up, but was sold for use as store in 1898 and conveyed to Trustees of Young Men's Institute in 1941.

Constructed in the late Georgian style, it is a two storey and basement building with a 3 window front. It has a hipped slate roof with later brick stack to left eaves, Greensand facings, pale freestone dressings, and rubbed red brick treatment to eaves and lintels. A central sash window is over an inserted boarded door accessed by steps, the outer openings blocked except to the ground floor with a square barred opening over the recessed gaol door.
The rear elevation has a central (cut-down stack), sash windows and second square barred opening to the lock-ups. Outside is a stone staircase reached through an opening in the boundary wall to the right.

Listed as an early C19 building of special interest for its adaption as a police station, and which forms part of a group with the church.
