Documentry references, along with a fragment of cross-shaft kept in the church (see Nprn301266), have been taken to indicate the presence of an e.Med. monastary.
A connection/confusion with Llanvithyn Grange (Nprn19197) has been suggested.

Earthworks S of the church, on the right bank of the stream, where a fragment of walling is apparent, trenched in 1964, have produced 13th-14th C. pottery & sandstone rooftiles (RCAHMW 1982, 59).
