A burnt mound lies at the north end of the ridge which forms the west side of Rhossili Down, at an altitude of 109m above OD.
Set on a steep hillside the mound is slightly crescentic and measures 11m long (E-W) by 6m wide with a height of about 1m on the downhill, north, side but only 0.2m on the south. The 'crescent' opens onto a minor stream which emerges from a spring head a short distance uphill. The mound is apparently undisturbed and turf-covered, overgrown with bracken, mosses and grass. Probing of the mound indicates the gravel consistency typical of burnt mounds though its setting, on a steep slope, is unusual.
