What is believed to be the oldest brewery in Cardiff, William's Malthouse in St Mary Street and dating from 1713, was acquired by Samuel Brain in 1882 and renamed Brains Old Brewery. Production later transferred to County Brewery (nprn 302788) in Crawshay Street and in 2003 it was redeveloped as a retail site.
