Dolbenmaen is a very small village situated approximately four and a half miles north west of Porthmadog. The parish church, St. Mary's (NPRN 43776), 'is thought to be fifteenth century and later.' It may also have been 'associated with a llys, a princely court, represented by the castle mound across the road (NPRN 93540).' The other notable building in the village is Plas Dolbenmaen, which was formerly 'The Dolbenmaen Public House' (NPRN 16741). This house 'appears in the tax returns of 1662 when it was one of only two houses in the district with two hearths.'
