The 1st, 2nd and 3rd editions of the historic 25-inch O. S. maps, published in 1871, 1899, and 1913 respectively, all depict Caerwys Mill as a working corn mill. It was situated in a steep-sided valley, and the mill pond 120 metres upstream from the mill was one of several in the valley. The stone-built mill still stands, roofless and scaffolded in 2015, within the Plas Isaf Holiday Lodge site.
